As long as I've got the comments, chime in if you haven't been able to access my old blog lately. I know some people were having trouble, and it sounds like some people just couldn't open it at all. (Thank for trying, by the way!) I'm looking into moving my archives over here, but I know it's going to give me an ulcer. Worth the aggravation?
Posted by Jim Treacher at May 28, 2003 04:30 PMYeah!
You made it!
You are off that nasty server and on one that actually responds. Hurrah! Hurray! Welcome to broadband!
Not only was Blogspot a pain in the ass, but your previous template was so bloated that it took forever to load. Welcome to the excitement of inviting comments from people addicted to the Internet and snotty about things like standards-compliant HTML.
To answer your previous question, I was able to reach your website OK over the last week, and did so repeatedly, no doubt giving you a heart attack when your site stats noted multiple visits from "uscourts.gov."
Posted by: Lane at May 28, 2003 06:46 PMYes, please bring everything over. I mean, who's going to save all this stuff if the people involved don't. (I know, the Wayback Machine, but it's not perfect.) Five centuries from now, nobody will know anything about what happened between 1998, when everything went online, and 2017, when blue cube came along and made us all buy Dark Side of the Moon AGAIN.
Posted by: Mike G at May 28, 2003 07:16 PMI was able to load it about one time in four over the past few days, sometimes only the header with no content.
That flaming template that you had (and (Pen-)Elayne Riggs still does) always chokes my browser, along with the maroon and orange Mondrian fever dream one that Amygdala uses.
The new place has potential, but needs some taint. Like sodomite comics detournments easily reached from the front page.
Posted by: Paul Dubuc at May 28, 2003 09:58 PMOnly you know if it'll be worth the aggro; I'd just be tempted to link to the old Blogspot site and tell people to fend for themselves. That said, being able to access your old stuff via categories would make me wet.
Sorry, that wasn't terribly helpful, was it?
