What would you call this, crystal-method acting? It's Raging Bull in reverse, so... what, Raging Bone? Wait, I think I've seen that one.
Weiland's like, "Oh my God, what's your secret?"
Posted by Jim Treacher at October 22, 2004 04:20 AMI almost threw up a little when I first saw the trailer. I don't think I can sit through an entire movie with Bale looking like that.
Posted by: Missy at October 22, 2004 06:41 AMHoly shit, THAT's Christian Bale? I gotta see this trailer.
Posted by: Mark V. at October 22, 2004 08:23 AMI'm still unsure of the wisdom of having Bale's Batman sing in an operatic falsetto, and casting John Malkovitch as Alfred.
Posted by: Hubris at October 22, 2004 09:17 AMClick the image for the making-of trailer. He is out of his mind to do that to himself for a movie role. He starved himself from 180 down to 120 for this, and then he gained it all back in six weeks to get ready for Batman. BAD IDEA.
Posted by: Jim Treacher at October 22, 2004 11:07 AMHe just did a little interview somewhere (the URL escapes me) where he mentioned that this sent him to a doctor a few times, and that he regained the weight in the most unhealthy of ways. He says, with his usual understated Brit-ism, that "it's all sorted now."
All I know is that is some crazy dedication to your craft. I don't have the willpower to stop eating cheeseburgers much less starve myself to Dachau proportions.
Posted by: JimK at October 22, 2004 12:43 PMKinda reminiscent of the appearance of Donnie "butterball" Walberg at the beginning of "The Sixth Sense". That's just ultra-creepy.
Posted by: Keith at October 22, 2004 01:19 PMOr the pre-spider bite Peter Parker. Which was CGI. They have these things called computers now, Christian!
Posted by: Angus Jung at October 22, 2004 01:36 PMI am so creeped out by the trailers that I don't need (am afraid) to see the movie.
Hold me.
Posted by: Beryl Gray at October 22, 2004 04:16 PMOh, ok, so that wasn't Bale as Bruce Wayne. Cause that would have completely ruined the Batman franchise for me (if the previous two movies hadn't).
Posted by: Mark V. at October 22, 2004 04:43 PMIt's Bale as the damn Scarecrow!
Posted by: Angus Jung at October 22, 2004 04:46 PMI bet you are on the lookout for raging bone.
