Been busy

Things have been crazy at work, with no sign of letting up. It's Shandrelle's first week on the fry machine, and guess who gets to train her? Wish me luck.

I always have the new trainees read Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald's (by Ray Kroc) prior to putting them on the fry machine. That way they can ponder his opening line ("I have always believed that each man makes his own happiness and is responsible for his own problems") while they work.

Why doesn't McDonald's show PBS 24/7 and play NPR in the bathroom - if Mrs Kroc felt it was sooo important to prop that stuff up, it should enhance everyone's McFish experience.

The fry machine? Are you sure she's ready? Many a promising young employee was lured away from a promising career in something or other before the fry machine turned him or her into one of the fondly-remembered former employees.

The fry machine is the reason most fast food establishments have dedicated their window space to the message of "Now Hiring Friendly Faces". You are a noble fool to undertake that venture. I hope you get at least a fifteen cent raise whilst you undertake your supervisory duties.

Somebody told me about your web site. Think you're funny, huh Mr. Man? We'll see how funny you are when I work my way up to shift supervisor and OWN your ass.

Still, the fry machine must be a break from the tedium of pressing McRib-shaped "product" from the gelatinous goo.

Reminds me of the old Steve Martin joke, back when he was funny and not everyone's "dad":

In McDonald's, everything comes out of one big vat. Big Mac? Large shake? Here's your change! Thank you!

Boy, do I feel suddenly old. Yes, little one... Robin Williams really was on TV playing an alien once upon a time...

Oh wait. Are we still talking about McDonald's?

I'll have my nap now.

Well it's no wonder then that you haven't had time to post on the biggest rush ever on series TV, and possibly ever in any form of entertainment (if my wife is to be believed): the return of Tony Alameda. Go on, pick that one apart. I dare you. I'll start. "Oh, yeah, it was a total surprise because it was the last thing anybody with a brain would have seen coming because IT MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE."

Suuuure. You were screaming at the TV like a little girl, ADMIT IT. You want sense, watch the Brit Hume show.

But then, of course, Jack had to go and spoil it by telling us that not all the towelheads is terriss. Way to rain on the hate, Kiefer!

I'm really interested in Shandrelle's career development, but can't we discuss Claire's return to the caves? Supposedly she doesn't remember anything about the crash, or the other survivors.

Please JT, don't make me go to the ABC forums. Ack.

I hope they keep Tony around at least long enough to get drunk. Each episode his slurring gets harder to understand, his shooting aim gets worse and worse, etc. Sutherland can give him tips on playing an abject drunkard.
