I didn't read this Slate article beyond the subhead, "Adult Impersonators at the Model UN, and the Perils of 'Exceeding Your Brief'," but it led me to wonder... If a member of the Model UN molested little kids, just like they do in the real UN, what would be the criminal charge that they wouldn't imagine themselves subject to? And isn't "exceeding one's briefs" a particularly unfortunate turn of phrase?

It's about time someone knocked these dorks off their high horses--ˇviva la revolución interent!
Maybe an Arab kid could petrol bomb them out of their meeting room, like the jihadis did in Iraq. That would be funny and cool because it would be ironic.
Hopefully, at least a couple of them might be killed.
Posted by: Amos at February 17, 2005 08:43 AMSome kids at my college staged a terrorist takeover one time the Model UN convened there, with water pistols and such. It was all fun and games until one of the pranksters, who oh by the way *actually worked for Sinn Fein*, started spouting IRA propaganda. It kind of ruined the joke.
Posted by: sean at February 17, 2005 01:00 PMToo bad there is no George Bush equivalent to storm in, flip the surviving model UN members the bird, then grab the terrorist kids by the hair and bang their heads against a table edge until they pass out.
Maybe some psycho, dextroamphetamine-amped gym teacher.
at the MUN conference we host, the high schoolers are stone cold stupid. in that way its a little more realistic than college UN.
