A metaphor Lee Siegel might be able to understand

If Batman wears a mask to beat up the Joker, that's okay. (In Gotham City, anyway.) If Batman wears a mask to run around telling everybody how great Bruce Wayne is, that's not okay.

Quite possibly, the funniest sentence I've read in a very long time (or perhaps I need to get out more) ... that another needs to explain why pseudonymously complimenting oneself is bad form is truly amazing.
