I don't think 99% of the American press is trying to cover for John Edwards just because he's a Democrat. But they're certainly not in as big of a hurry to report on his second family as they'd be if he were a Republican. I've always been skeptical about cries of liberal media bias, but if this isn't evidence of it, I don't know what is. Here we are a week later, and they've let a bunch of limeys beat them to the story. Who would have thought a lightweight, blow-dried ambulance chaser like Edwards could make the entire mainstream media tie itself into knots?
As for what I think we should call this phenomenon, see headline.
P.S. In the comments to the story linked above, Richard from Encinitas left this:
The Los Angeles Times is diligently investigating this story. Early research by the Times indicates that Beverly Hills is likely an incorporated city located somewhere near L.A. Rumors are that several hotels have been built there, although this has not been reliably confirmed.Posted by Jim Treacher at July 27, 2008 12:38 PM
